Restorative Yoga

What is Restorative Yoga you ask?

I don’t blame you for wondering.  With all the new styles of yoga–Tribal Yoga, Slow Flow, Asta Yoga–it’s hard to know what to expect.

Restorative Yoga is a gentle practice that uses props to support the body so it can truly rest.  It promotes healing through lowering blood pressure, slowing the heart rate, and encouraging the relaxation response.  In these  poses you are completely comfortable, warm, relaxed and supported.  You might call it De-stress Yoga, Balanced Yoga, Relax & Renew Yoga, or Yummy Yoga.  Whatever you call it, no worries, just try it.  I know you’ll like it.  Everyone does.  It’s the missing Yin to the Yang!

Where can I find this lay-around-and-relax yoga?  Many yoga studio offer Restorative Yoga.  You can find a local teacher that has done training with Relax & Renew trainer, Judith Lasater, on this site:  http://www.restorativeyogateachers.com/.
